Malta Flights - Who Is Boosting The Holidays Market?

Are low cost airlines to blame for the downfall of dearer airlines? The announcement that UK based XL Airways had folded was anticipated to cause quite a buzz among the tourism-dependent areas it served. Malta didn't receive as much air traffic from XL Airways as other, less costly airlines.

About 77,000 more travellers flew from points in Europe to Malta in the initial half of 2008 basically due to Air Maltas new pricing packages. Chief Officer Commercial, Brock Friesen claimed, We are building on the good results registered last winter, when, for the 1st time in history, Air Malta transported over half 1,000,000 passengers. He said that tourism to Malta was powerfully benefitting from Air Maltas increases in traffic. Whether Malta can stand up to the pressures of the world economy taking a downturn is still to be seen, but 2009 does rely still mostly on the United Kingdom economy, which now isnt looking too promising.
